Individual & Couples Therapy
My goal is to use psychotherapy to guide patients in achieving an awareness and
understanding of the sources of their psychological problems, and then work
through those problems so they can feel better about themselves and lead healthier
and happier lives.
Individuals
Through mutual work in therapy, individuals develop he ability to cope and deal with
their problems and with the many stresses life can so often present — and thereby
improve the quality of life.
I have extensive experience in helping patients deal with a wide range of
psychological and interpersonal problems, with a special focus on depression,
anxiety, relationship and intimacy issues, and bereavement/grief counseling. I also
provide therapeutic support for dealing with acculturation and immigration issues,
identity problems, and academic/occupational problems.
Couples
In the therapy process, we work together to bring into awareness the hidden
patterns of behavior that have eroded the couple’s basic sense of trust, respect,
and security in the relationship. Each individual will be able to feel more
acceptance and compassion for themselves and their partner, learn how to resolve
conflicts in the future, maintain improvements in the relationship, and view the other
person as a source of comfort and security.
In the case where the couple can no longer repair the relationship, they can be
helped to achieve separation in a way that causes the least hurt and damage to
everyone. They can also achieve better understanding of what led to their
separation, so that the same patterns of behavior do not repeat themselves in
future relationships.
