Maia Psychology Practice
Maia Psychology Practice provides an array of psychological services, ranging
from individual and couples therapy to specialized group sessions. It
encompasses a wide spectrum of psychological issues and disorders.
My approach draws upon many years of extensive experience with a wide range of
psychological issues, therapies, and disciplines. It builds upon each patient’s
strengths, while improving interpersonal and emotional skills.
My therapy is personalized, recognizing that each patient is a unique individual
with his or her own very personal history and issues. Because sensitive subjects
are often discussed during a session, each patient’s privacy and confidentiality are
fully respected and protected.
I use a Psychodynamic/ Psychoanalytic method of treatment that achieves self-
understanding of one’s mental life, and leads to psychological health. This method
considers both conscious and unconscious levels, and recognizes that childhood
events have a powerful influence throughout life.
The Psychodynamic/Psychoanalytic approach can help clients in many ways,
including gaining a better understanding of:
— Patterns of behavior that cause problems in work and personal relationships;
— Better ways to express feelings;
— Choices made, or yet to be made;
— Dealing with transitions, changes, and difficulties;
— Sources of irrational fears and anxiety;
— How to cope with losses; and more.
My goal is to help each patient — whether in individual therapy, couples therapy, or
in a group — achieve a personal awareness and understanding of past and
present behavior patterns so he or she can make needed behavioral changes that
will improve their quality of life.
